In the past twenty years, the people of Afghanistan have considered Canada as a friendly nation and will always be indebted to Canada for the sacrifices made by Canadians in rebuilding our country. Meanwhile, we consider the military-cum-intelligence cliques in Pakistan whose proxy-imperial designs have brought our nation to the brink of a humanitarian disaster as they have designed and operated behind the scene the virtual collapse of Afghanistan’s burgeoning democracy. While we fully understand the significance of diplomatic efforts for peace in Afghanistan, the Afghan Global Diaspora Council (AGDC), representing over 110 Afghan community and cultural organizations in the global diaspora, is profoundly concerned with the recent contacts between top Canadian and Pakistani diplomats over the crisis in Afghanistan. This particular contact is ignoring the sensitivities of the people of Afghanistan who have suffered from the interference of Pakistan in Afghanistan’s internal affairs. The AGDC is hereby raising the voice of over 6 million Afghans living across the globe to denounce any participation by Pakistan, independently or on behalf of its proxy surrogates in Kabul, as a hostile act in any and all efforts by the international community addressing the current situation in our country. The AGDC, including Afghan Canadians, kindly request Canadian officials to pay close attention to the sensitivity of this matter for the sake of and in the interest of lasting friendship between the peace-loving people of Canada and Afghanistan and safeguard it from Pakistan’s hostile manipulations under the guise of diplomacy.
