Dear Minister Payne,
People of Afghanistan seek Peace, Security, Democracy & Progress
Please accept our gratitude for the continued support of the Australian Government to end the bloodshed in Afghanistan and to enable people of Afghanistan to achieve Peace, Security, Democracy & Progress.
Attached to this letter, the Afghan Diaspora Unity Council (ADUC) would like to provide you with a view-point on the continuing war and instability in Afghanistan and related Peace Process.
Due to the continued four decades of war and political instability in Afghanistan, millions of Afghans live overseas. However, the Afghan diaspora is kept aside from participation in the processes aimed at bringing about political stability and peace in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, the delegation in Qatar on behalf of the Afghan Government are mostly comprised of representatives of the former Jihadi Militia Bands who are responsible for creating the instability, human abuses and corruption in Afghanistan in the first place. Over the past two months of the so-called peace negotiations between the Taliban and the Afghan Government delegation, proved a complete failure due to uncompromising positions of the two parties.
On behalf of the Afghan Diaspora, the Afghan Diaspora Unity Council (ADUC) is ready to participate in the Afghan Peace Process. ADUC is registered as a Not-for-Profit organisation in Brisbane Australia, representing over 110 Afghan Community Associations, as well as individual Afghan political, social and cultural activists, writers, media presenters & professionals residing in many Western countries. The ADUC has affiliated community civil society organisations within Afghanistan as well who are committed to promote peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan.
While a just participation of the Taliban in the social and political life of the country is the focus of any peace negotiations, peace is only achievable through good will and compromising positions of all the parties.
The failure of the Peace Talks over the past two months highlight the need for the participation of an Afghan third party in the peace talks to find middle grounds between the conflicting sides in order to bring about peace and reconciliation in the country. The Afghan Diaspora Unity Council (ADUC) is ready to participate in the Afghan Peace Process as a third party and provide the necessary middle grounds for a Peace Agreement.
In your efforts to support Peace, Reconciliation, Security, Democracy & Progress in Afghanistan, we hope you consider our views which are shared by millions of Afghans within Afghanistan and abroad.
The Afghan Diaspora Unity Council would appreciate your support to be able to participate in peace processes.
With best regards,
Dr. Noor Ahmad Khalidi
